Divine stone is a web enabled site devoted to the stonework at the Cathedral Church Saint John the Divine. It is our goal to post information about the stonework, especially the carvings, of the cathedral. The site will be used for general educational purposes. It will also act as inspiration for a new generation of stone masons, carvers and sculptors. Please look, read, share.
Existing photographs and new photography will be posted. Ongoing research is conducted to identify the carver, designer and significant information that would contribute to the context of the carvings.
The community of masons, cutters, carvers and sculptors who have worked on the stonework are encouraged to share what they have with us.
